Golden Horseshoes Festival

Well, what a great Festival!     Perfect weather for our dancing but the cool wind caused us some minor issues with our Silk Veils and Isis Wings.     Sariah and Nepheris performed their Solos beautifully today and as always were a credit to the Academy.

We thoroughly enjoyed being in the Parade too which had 45 entries and we will definitely be keen for future Parades - such fun!      Problem is, we can only do them when Mr B is home as we need him to drive Bella.

Thank you GHF for inviting us, we hope to be invited again next  year.

Following our successful performances at Wodonga Carnivale, our next major appearance is at Beechworth on Saturday 7th April (Easter Saturday).   We're very excited to be invited to this Event as we've never performed for Beechworth before.

As Easter is right in the middle of the Academy's break time some of our Dancers are away, however this performance will be ably presented by myself and two of our most capable Dancers,  Nepheris and Sariah.   We are busy rehearsing a brand new Choreography to add to our repertoire on the day, and are really looking forward to seeing all our fans there ready for 1.oopm.

I may also be conducting a Bellydance Workshop, details when available.

We've been invited to produce a Medieval dance segment to introduce the Living Chess Match this year, which is a very exciting project for us.  Our first rehearsal last night was great and I think the choreo will look fabulous.     I'm hoping this first request for something very special will not be the last, as we love a challenge and are more than capable of performing way beyond Bellydancing.       Our repertoire of achievements is ever expanding.

I am very proud to announce that after almost a year of intense effort, Alpine Contemporary Bellydance Academy now has the Chief Commissioner's Approval for performing with Swords.  This rarely given Approval is a  coup for the Academy and everyone we perform for.

Our newest and youngest "Acba Dancer" is SARIAH who undertook her audition on 1st July 2011.

SARIAH is the only Student to receive "Most Improved" Certificate for 2010, and she has now added Intermediate Level 2 Certificate to her achievements.

SARIAH's  Solo was a very complicated one which she performed beautifully.   She also performed our troupe Veil Choreography as a solo  with great skill - in fact, the best yet.   SARIAH is headed for great things and we are proud to have her join "The Acba Dancers"

Audition night Friday 8th April 2011 was a great success although we ran completely  out of time so no-one had a chance to dance at all which was very disappointing.

We do however have two Students who have now achieved Intermediate Level 2 status - Jilasair and Parizade - whose audition solos were absolutely fantastic.   The audition criteria is quite challenging, and both these Students amazed us with their inventive and artistic Solos, preparedness and costuming.

Congratulations to Jilasair and Parizade, and thank you both for taking such pride in your Academy!   You have both conducted yourselves professionally during 2010 and are great role models for our new Students coming through the ranks.
